We've been serving you up the best cookware in the Central West for over 20 years and tend to think we know a thing or two about quality cookware. For instance, did you know non-stick cookware is generally for low to medium heat? They are steak-free zones baby. A NO searing space. They are however super for say an omelet, pasta sauce, or crepes.
But no two cooks are the same, right?
So how could we possibly narrow it down to four pieces of cookware?
Now obviously most of us who cook own more than four pieces of cookware, even if it is your favourite baked beans saucepan that you inherited from your Mum when you first moved out of home. However, there are four pieces that we find are absolute workhorses in the kitchen...
The 16cm saucepan. It's the workhorse of every kitchen. It's big enough to add on a steamer for vegetables or dumplings, the perfect size for sauces, scrambled eggs, your morning porridge, and so much more. If you are looking to start with one piece, this is it!
For every person, this can mean a different frypan surface. It depends on your everyday meals. For me, it's a 26cm cast iron frypan. I can cook everything from fried eggs to a medium rare steak. I can even pop it in the oven after searing that steak to keep those roasting juices flowing. Cast iron also retains so much heat. You can turn it up, down, and all around, It's a gem and a daily workhorse at our home
You may be a pasta-loving, soup-making, mashed potato king of the kitchen. In this case, a stainless steel casserole pot will probably be in your top three. Or you may be a hearty slow-cooked stew, homemade sourdough, Sunday roast-loving girl, so in that case, a cast iron pot like a Le Creuset or Lodge Dutch oven may just be your thing.
Either way, a large casserole can be used for a multitude of uses!
From oven-baked potato chips to a full roast chicken or even baked lasagna, a good roasting pan is a kitchen essential.
Still confused? Pop into the store and we'll help you find your ideal cookware collection for your kitchen.
